In a shock move, the Pope (chief shaman of the Catholic faith) criticised Irish Bishops for failing to handle child abuse by the clergy in Ireland.  In a strongly worded telling-off, he said the priests' action was very, very naughty and not in the slightest bit nice.  He docked two weeks pocket money and for penance made them say 10 Hail Mary's and 1 Our Father, while hoping on one leg.
Such was the severity of the ticking-off that the Bishops promised not to allow any more abuse by their priests for the rest of the year (later retracted to 6 weeks during Lent).

A political statement there.  So is your grievance against the Catholic Church or religion in general?

The Catholic Church has shamed themselves over this and the abuse in Germany and America and everywhere really.  One thing is clear though, is that you can make fun of the church and your life is not put in danger by extremist nut jobs.  Perhaps your afterlife is pretty much f-upped, but not this one on planet Earth.

Yes, the Catholic Church has shamed themselves and people's trust in it has decreased dramatically. But  from other sign we should see it as a a lesson: the Pope and priests are not God, they are just humans with their faults.

It is good that police and government are now interfering with the Church. I would like to see the servants of the God to answer in front of the court.

The Catholic Setup is one of the most corrupt ever - from the top down.  Trouble is - i dont think anyone has the resources or the balls to start to investigate it.  Methinks a few people may grow concrete shoes if that happened!  Shocked

Wasn't there a case in the 80's of a banker who killed himself in London.  He just happened to be a Vatican banker and his death was apparently under suspicious circumstances, with the Vatican in some way implicated.

Sounds vaguely familiar. You have to view the Catholic church as a business. One which follows the Japanese philosophy of 'business is war'. The church has destroyed as many countries as all the imperialist nations combined.

I don't believe the people who run the church are corrupt, it is the system that is at fault. Priests are on the whole good people but in a secular world they have to follow secular rules. Yes they need money to pay for all the buildings they own, the salaries of their workers, etc. Yes they need marketing for their services, silly gimmicks like holy water, etc. So in a real way they are a business, but I think that is only because people are a bit silly and need these things, else the Catholic Church would die out.
It would be great to see them do things differently, but businesses don't dictate how it operates, it is market demand, i.e. consumers which do this.  If the Church is corrupt then it is so only because we have made it so.

Totally obvious they are all corrupt. Why do men choose to not have sex with women and sleep with boys and animals instead. Sick priests are the modern equivalent of rapists in the middle ages. They should all be extermicuted.
