Hi together,

Who is SImunich? SIMunich is a company that is made up of ex-pats who, when they first arrived in Munich many years ago, did not have any idea about registering in Munich, or getting a work permit, or finding a suitable health insurance, the list was endless. At the time we were told you need this and you need that, but we paid for things that we did not really need. If only we had of know then what we know now.

For example, having a suitable health insurance, some of us paid for the extra costs which we did not need, such as having a specialist doctor perform a standard operation. Or having full comprehensive car insurance for a car that was over 10 years old and worth next to nothing, when 3rd party fire and theft insurance would have sufficed. Who did we need to talk to about English speaking doctors in Munich? what about opening a bank account? Finding a suitable school for the children, who can help with that?

So many questions and so much paperwork to go through. If your a native German then this was a breeze, but for the usual ex-pat, then this was the long road to nowhere as we found out!!

We want to help people learn from our mistakes and be able to have a similar starting point as the native Germans do. So many foreigners do not understand that they too can get many of the government benefits as a native German does, such as tax savings or pension benefits.

80% of our clients are ex-pats who want to make the most of their time living in Munich, and the remainder of our clients are German natives who also want our help.

So that is in a nutshell the SIMunich story. Feel free to contact us on www.simunich.com

Best regards

Daniel

The address is www.simunich.com?

How does the process work?  I can see two scenarios.  The first is when someone has a specific problem and can go to you to get help sorting it out, e.g. needing help finding a school for the kids.  How would someone go about getting your help and do you have rough quotes for this sort of query?
The second scenario is a recently arrived expat who does not know he could get taken for a ride by the insurance companies et al.  He might see this post by yourself and not know what to contact you about.  Do you have a hand-holding process to help the clueless expat in need of help in ways she/he does not know yet?  Again, do you have rough rates for this, i.e. a one-off payment, or perhaps a scale of prices based on time spent working on your client's behalf, that sort of thing?

I think your business is one that is long overdue in Germany and it is so nice to think that expats have started this service.  For the first time I see a company willing to fight in my corner and it is a relief that a support network is now there.  Well done on a sound business concept and one which I feel will be damn successful.

I love the idea also.  Long overdue.  If such a service existed before I was unaware of it.

Forigve my jibberish here as I have had a few drinks, what with it being friday and all that.
To clarify my earlier post, I was just asking generic questions for the benefit of the forum people.  I was not asking about my situation as such.
But I am curious to see how this service will work.  It is so unique that I am very interested.  I bet your business will be mega busy with expats who need help.  The way business is done in Germany is a big culture shock for many of us so I am glad there are some people offering to help.  Good luck DMUC, I shall have a drink to your health.

Here is a thought, do you help people move back to their country of origin, once they are ready to leave Munich.  I guess there is lots to do, such as close bank accounts, end phone contracts and de-register from the city council.  Would be good to have help with these things as well and you might gets a lot of business by offering this service.
