How many of you have been surrounded by negative people?

I would imagine quite a few of you.

I was surrounded by negative people eight hours a day, five days a week for a good few years!!!

After a while the negativity rubbed off onto me  and I turned into one of those negative people, always complaining about something or other. Why did I not get the promotion, or why does Peter always get the opportunities or how did Sarah get the new BMW when she doesn't deserve it. These are just some of the things negative people say.

Then one day I was introduced to the book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, at first I was like yeah right as if, but I was asked to give it a try, my friend said “what have you got to lose?”

I bought the book and the DVD, I watched the DVD first, and what an eye opener it was, it has and still does give me the push that I sometimes need.

I have been able to look at things in a different way.

It has also given me the opportunity to read or watch other inspirational people, such as Joe Vitale, who has written many books about positive thinking and changing your life.

I am not a therapist or positive coach, but I would recommend anyone to check out The Secret, and see if it can help you.

I have seen the book in the English bookshop in Munich.  It is a little one with an image of a wax stamp on the cover?  Was wondering what it was about and came close to buying it.  Did not know there was a DVD as well.  Is that also sold in the bookshop?

Hi ColdFusion,

Amazon Deutschland sells the book in English:

Book http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/1847370292?ie=UTF8&tag=si0b-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=1847370292

but unfortunately they do not have the DVD in English, only Amazon UK has the DVD in English:

DVD http://www.amazon.co.uk/Extended-Angelle-Assaraf-Reverend-Beckwith/dp/B000KK22GU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1246436495&sr=1-1

Hugenduebl also sells the book in English:

http://www.hugendubel.de/books_in_english/body_mind/cat/the_secret/rhonda_byrne/isbn13_9781582701707.aspx

Hope this helps

Thanks Brandon, I used Play before but they stopped delivering to Germany, but have checked their web site again and it seems that they deliver books and DVD´s again to Germany.

Yep, I get books from them quite regularly. I actually find it cheaper to get books from them than buying them in huggeldubbel (or whatever it's called).

We need the hugel shop's name deciphered.  How cruel is it to have an English-language bookshop and then to call it something that we can neither spell nor pronounce.  I know it is not solely or even predominantly selling English books, but still.

I have a problem with implementing those self-development DVDs and books: I buy them, I read them passionately and.. add to a my collection at the bookshelf. I decided not to waste any more money on them because anyway I won't do anything.

Maker,

Everyone has their opinion, it works for some and not for others.

Some of it worked for me, and still today I try the things that are mentioned in the secret or other self-helping material.

It is unfortunate that they have not worked for you.

Ah Maker, these books would probably only work if you make the effort to practise what the books teach you. So many people think that by reading a book they will magically acquire all that knowledge and skill, without having to work at it. Did this happen to you at school when you read that maths book for the first time and suddenly could perform advanced integral calculus?  Did you ever pick up a yoga book and within minutes give up because you hadn't suddenly become a yoga guru?

Be patient; read, understand, summarise and practise. Give it time. If after two or three months of practicing you still have not dealt with whatever you were trying to sort, then time to move on to some other way of solving your problem.  But don't give up on something just because you didn't put the effort in to do it right.
There, motivational ass-kicking over.

Maker@: Don't worry you are not alone in your problem. You can give up for a while and try it again, as long as you are trying you are not failed.
