Exercising is always thought off as something to do to keep fit but the benefits are far more than that.
It increases self-esteem and makes you feel good about yourself.  In addition it releases endorphins which help fight depression and improve your mood.  If you suffer from mood swings or a general lack of vitality in life, then get out and do some running.
The health benefits are obvious, but again, people don't realise that it is more than just a reduced likelihood of disease. You are able to do things you wouldn't normally have been able to do, your body is more relaxed and supple, you are better able to cope with trauma, both mentally and physically. It also gives you freedom to do the things in life you might have avoided, like mountaineering or other more physical pursuits.

As an all-round way to improve yourself and feel good, exercising is the best tool that I know of.

It is surprising just how much better you feel after a bit of light exercise.
Maybe a TT jogging club might be a good way to get fit?

Jogging requires too much effort. A poetry club would improve oneself immeasurably and require less effort.

According to other thread on TM forum about the connection of optimism and health is it not amazing that people with positive attitude are more likely to exercise than those with bad attitude. Meas that if you are not exercising and convinced that you are an optimist you are probably lying to yourself.

I think most of people cannot exercise by themselves: they need a group to motivate them and maybe even to compete with. I find the best way to exercise is to sign for some martial art like for example jiu-jitsu.

I think self-esteem cannot be build on your looks or what you do or not do. You should love yourself as you are, so exercising might be good for your health but self-love and self-esteem won't come to you only because of that.

There are quite lots of examples of sports people that after finishing their sport carrier became successful in other areas. It shows that their attitude (brought from sport) is what needed in business to be successful.
