I need a little bit of help. What sort of Munich tours are available? I mean, I see there is at least one bus tour, which meets somewhere in town and takes you around the city. Where does it meet? What other tours are there? I hear there are walking tours as well as bike tours? Would it be possible for talkmunich (TM for short, or would people confuse that with 'trademark') to list all of these possible tours in English? Maybe everyone can contribute something that htey know and we can collate all the info into the wiki here. It is just that I am fed up trying to negotiate German websites, when I do not speak the language. For such a high influx of foreigners, getting info in English seems sometimes very awkward.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi ColdFusion! Good idea! I was told by a friend that this walking tour of the center is good (and in English ): http://www.newmunich.com/nm/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=27&Itemid=41&lang=enBut I haven't yet been there myself. It is free meaning that there is no fixed fee, but the guide is paid by the tips at the end of the tour. Looking forward to know of some other tours!

Smashing idea (sorry ColdFusion, I am referring to Silri's link). I would like to join this tour. A little bit of local history sounds good to me and it deals a little with Hitler's legacy in this city. I am up for this some day (when it gets warmer). Oh yes, back to ColdFusion. I know of a Mike's Bike Tours. Someone mentioned this to me prior to me coming over. I think the guy is English who runs it, but I could be wrong. Creating a database of these types of things on the TM Wiki would be a great idea, but who would do it?

I was also thinking about making Munich bike tour as it will be good for me to learn new and maybe shorter routes to the places I know before buying my own bicycle.

Has TM thought of creating its own tour of Munich? I bet a few members of TM know a thing or two about Munich and would be able to give a tour. Maybe even pay them to do this. We will all get to know each other as well, so it will be like a meetup. This is better than attending a tour by someone we don't know, as all the people who turn up for the tour will just be tourists that we will never be able to meet again.
Did I explain that clearly or have I confused everybody?

ThunderRod you made a good point there. As we are not tourists we would like some other type of excursion in Munich. I know somebody who does tours in Munich and very knowledgeable about its history and places. We could meet up at some stage and just have a walk with her around the city. Certainly it will be for free for TM members.

Count me in. Will she also buy us coffee and chocolate biscuits? I am willing to give her a handsome tip of course.
The bike tour sounds like a good idea. Now that the weather is finally improving I would be up for a little light exercise as long as it was following by a stop off at the Chinese Tower for chicken and chips.

Coffee and biscuits are only by good tip and as an exclusion for you available. But she makes no bicycle tours only walking.

Hi guys, don't worry about the cost, TalkMunich will fund this tour. Just bring enough cash for chocolates and lemonade for yourself @Maker, can you contact this friend and see if she would be interested. Can you PM me with her details so that I can get a quote from her? For anyone interested in this walking tour, please suggest some dates when you might like it. TM Admin

OK, we can make a tour on that Saturday if you like, but it does look like it will be the last full day of your visit. We can aim for earlier in the week, but then few people might be able to make it then. We could do an evening tour though which may be fun?

oh! it is wonderful, i can imagine it right now like - 'Munich at Night' tour with visiting high buildings and looking at the night lights of the city. Very romantically.

Romance, tours, Munich, city-lights, count me in Seriously though, we could all get lost and die. Will we have to wear reflective clothing and tell the police where we plan to go, in case we go missing?
