Has anyone ever heard of Devere and Partners. I have a job offer from them to go to Munich as a ''coordinator'' to the financial consultants over there. Basically I make appointments for people to see the consultant who sells them investments. Has anyone ever dealt with anyone who works for them, invested with them or has anyone heard anything about them.

Their offer just seems that little bit too good to be true and when it looks too good it usually is so just wondered before I move my whole life to Germany if anyone knows anything.

Ah.
I think there might be one or two people on here who can share their experiences/opinions on De Vere.
Before anyone does however, please keep any comments legally acceptable, i.e. non-libelous.

The best general advice I can give is to have a contract completely and unambiguously ironed-out.  That advice goes for all contracts here as laws do differ considerably so from the UK.  I would definitely pay for a solicitor well-versed in German corporate law.

Be aware that probation periods are big things here and people regularly do lose their jobs within that probation period, often for little reason.  It is not like in the UK where you would generally lose your job only for gross misconduct or incompetence; I know one very qualified engineer who came over from Egypt and within 2 weeks was sent packing.  He gave up his job back home and relocated his family here, only to lose everything after a fortnight.  You have little protection in the probation period, so try to get all this sorted out before you come over.

I would especially nail down your job description and if possible make sure that phoning prospective clients is not on your list of responsibilities.  Cold-calling is illegal here and there have been accusations made against certain finance companies regarding this practice.  I am not saying De Vere engages in this, but make sure your contract is water-tight.

Good luck.

I know somebody who is with them.  I will ask what he thinks about them.  So far he has not complained.

I heard they are quite big, but I know a number of people who have received unsolicited calls from them. Well, they suspected it was them anyway.

I should read this forum more often, that is why I have not got back to you.
My colleague would not go into details for fairly obvious reasons but he seems really happy with De Vere.
I would go for the role if it is offered to you.
