According to TCM there are five elements: earth(sweet), wood (sour), fire(bitter), water(salty) and metal (pungent). Each of the 5 main tastes have an affinity for different organs. To activate our life energy (Qi) and to maintain the body's functions we should try to combine these elements in each meal.

Does a Mac Donald meal include all that?

Of course it does... plus you get a free toy which you can stick in your mouth and choke on.  The question is, which has the highest nutritional value: the meal or the toy?

To eat healthily you just need to pay attention to the ingredients of glossaries that you eat. I try to avoid 'bad' fats and take instead good oils that are composed of omega-3 fatty acids; avoid meat, dairy products, wheat and sugar. Lots of vegetables and fruits, fish and whole grains.

I don't actually bother reading the ingredients in food, but after Shytic's post then maybe I should. I have not got a clue what omega-3 is.  Should I worry about this  Smiley

Maybe we all need to work a little on our diet. Seriously but, how many of us actually do eat healthy all the time?  I have been known to sample a banana after my pizza, or drink water with my fish and chips instead of beer.  But in general I know next to nothing about how to eat.  I think I am not alone.  Just so much effort required to eat healthily.

I totally agree with you Moomin. I myself know next to nothing about how to eat healthy. I would like to learn about healthy diet but I never had enough time or patience for it.

So, now I know about diffrent fat types. I could not guess that, for example, chocolate has fat and chocki cannot be produced without fat.
