Art Gallery Club

I am a Philistine when it comes to art.  Any art people on here who know a thing or two about it and would be willing to meet up now and then at a gallery to share their knowledge?  I am interested in learning why some paintings are in galleries and why they are considered great.  In short I need to be educated about the subtleties of what goes into a painting.  Ideally, maybe a group of us could meet up on a Sunday (for instance) occasionally and visit a gallery.
The question is, does anyone know anything about art on talkmunich?

So far there are a few people signed up, but nobody seems to know anything about art.  I guess TalkMunich suffers from the expat scourge of having mostly technical expats as members?

That is a point, why doesn't the moderator allow members to state their occupation in their profile.  That way we can all see what everyone does.

Well I think it is important to have a little bit of privacy, don't you agree.  People do not realise how much information is available about them online, which they themselves put there, so I prefer to keep it simple.  Stating your occupation might not be all that important, but still, privacy is something you should try to protect.

Back on topic.  What is the point of having a few hours in a gallery is none of us know anything about art?
